Prompette

What it does

Prompette shows your script in a slim strip that hangs from your MacBook's notch, right under the camera, so your eyes stay near the lens on calls, recordings and talks. It never shows up in screen sharing or screen recordings.

• Three ways to scroll. At a speed you set; only while you speak, from your voice's loudness; or word by word, following what you say with speech recognition done entirely on your Mac.
• A library of scripts with cue markers such as [PAUSE] and [SLIDE 3], import from text, Markdown, RTF and Word files, and a rehearsal timer that shows where you ran long.
• A remote on your phone or tablet. Start, pause, change speed and jump to the next cue from an iPhone, iPad or Android device over your own network, or use it as a small teleprompter on its own.
• Works on any Mac. Without a notch, the strip sits at the top centre of the screen.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later; the iPhone and iPad app requires iOS 17 or later, and the Android app Android 8.0 or later. One purchase covers the Mac, iPhone and iPad; the Android app is a separate purchase on Google Play.

Privacy in one paragraph

Prompette has no account and no tracking, and never sends your scripts or your voice anywhere. The microphone is used only on the Mac, in the voice and follow modes you choose, and speech is recognised on your Mac. The remote on your phone or tablet talks to your Mac over your own local network only. The full privacy policy says the same at more length.
