What it does
On a Mac, Lunarette puts today's lunar day in your menu bar, in a small moon or written out; click it for the month with every lunar day, the festivals and the 24 solar terms. On iPhone, iPad and Android, the app opens on today and the month, and its widgets keep the lunar date in view.
- Four traditions: Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese, each reckoned at its own meridian as its published calendar is. Now and then a month really does begin a day apart, and Lunarette gets it right: Tết 1985, Seollal 2027.
- Every day in full: the lunar date in your own language (Month 8, Day 15), or, with one switch, the way your tradition writes it (丙午年八月十五, Ngày 15 tháng 8 năm Bính Ngọ, 병오년 8월 15일); the day's and month's stems and branches, the year's animal, and Japan's rokuyō.
- Festivals and solar terms: the Spring Festival, Tết, Seollal, the Lantern Festival, Qingming, the Dragon Boat Festival, Vu Lan, Mid-Autumn, Chuseok and more, with a countdown to the next ones.
- A date converter: solar to lunar and back, leap months included, ready to copy.
- Lunar reminders: an anniversary on its lunar date every year, or every 1st and 15th, arriving on the right solar day each time.
- Widgets: today's lunar date, the year's animal and the next festivals, on your Mac desktop, your iPhone or iPad Home Screen and Lock Screen, or your Android home screen.
- Export to your calendar: the festivals, the solar terms and your lunar reminders as a calendar file that your calendar app can import. Lunarette never reads or changes your calendars.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later, iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or later, or Android 8.0 or later. Covers 1901 to 2099.
Privacy in one paragraph
Lunarette has no network access, no account and no tracking. The calendar is worked out on your device from where the Moon and the Sun are, and your reminders stay on your device. The full privacy policy says the same at more length.
