Tapsody

Mechanical keyboard sounds for your Mac, from the menu bar.

What it does

Every keystroke plays a click that is synthesized on the spot from a handful of numbers. There are no audio recordings in the app, so it stays small, starts instantly, and never sounds like a loop repeating.

Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Available in thirty-four languages.

Privacy in one paragraph

Tapsody needs the Input Monitoring permission to know when a key goes down and comes back up. It reads the key code and nothing else. No text is stored, nothing is sent anywhere, there is no account and no network access, and macOS itself withholds anything typed into a password field. The full privacy policy says the same thing at greater length.

Small apps, each made to do one thing well. No accounts, no ads, and none of them tracks you.
