Umbrette
Privacy policy
Last updated 28 September 2026.
The short version
Umbrette collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. It has no network access, no account and no analytics.
What Umbrette uses
The position and size of the windows on screen, and which app each belongs to, to know which window to keep bright. macOS gives this to every app without a permission. Umbrette never reads window titles, never captures the screen and never sees what is in any window. Nothing about your windows is stored.
No permissions. Umbrette does not ask for Accessibility, Screen Recording, your location or anything else.
What is stored, and where
Only your settings (the depth, the tint, your app rules, the schedule), inside the app's own container on your Mac. Deleting the app removes them.
