Probette

Last updated 1 October 2026.

The short version

Probette collects no data. It never connects to the internet, so nothing you open can leave your device. There is no account, no tracking and no analytics.

Your files stay on your device

Probette reads the video, audio and image files you open, drop or share with it, on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or Android device, and shows what it finds. It never changes them and never sends them anywhere. Exports (text, JSON, CSV) are written only where you choose.

The list of recent files keeps a reference to each one so it can be opened again (on iPhone, iPad and Android, also its name and one-line summary); it never contains the files themselves. On the Mac, iPhone and iPad, the Quick Look and share extensions read only the file you show them; on Android, Probette reads only the file you open or hand it with Open with or Share.

The apps have no network permission at all. The same holds for Probette on Android: it does not ask for internet access.
